BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Tuesday, June 20, contractors are planning to begin work on the Westen roundabouts project at the Ashley Circle/Westen Street intersection.

Demo work will begin on existing infrastructure to begin preparing for the proposed widening portions of the road. At this point in time, traffic impact will be very minimal, if any at all. However as the project progresses, traffic impacts will increase.

In the event traffic is affected, contractors will have appropriate signage/detours/flaggers onsite to keep traffic flowing as efficiently as possible.

Pedestrians and vehicular traffic are encouraged to avoid this area as much as possible unless it is necessary. Motorists should exercise extreme caution if they have to be in this area for their safety and for the safety of the workers.

The intent of this project is to improve traffic flow at Ashley Circle and Westen Street and also at Patrick Way and Westen Street.

Work at the Patrick Way location will follow immediately after the completion of the Ashley Circle location. At Ashley Circle, the construction will feature a new roundabout, sidewalk, and ADA compliant handicap ramps with a crosswalk.

At the Patrick Way location, this will feature a new roundabout, sidewalk, ADA compliant ramps with crosswalks, as well as utility relocations and new storm sewer infrastructure to compliment the proposed layout.

The Ashley Circle and Westen Street location is expected to be completed by the end of September 2023 and the Patrick Way and Westen Street location is expected to be completed at the beginning of March 2024.
