As part of the Hotel Roof Replacement Project at the parks main lodge building, the lobby area will be reconfigured to allow for increased usability.
This reconfiguration will also allow for the display of a very special piece of Mammoth Cave history.
We recently finalized plans with the Mammoth Cave National Park Association (MCNPA) to display one of the last historic stagecoaches used to transport visitors to Mammoth Cave on a historic stagecoach line between 1859 to 1883.
The stagecoach, owned by MCNPA, was refurbished several years ago and later displayed at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green and at the National Cave Museum and Library near Park City.
Following the construction at the Mammoth Cave lodge building, the stagecoach will be moved to its new home in the hotel lobby.
This is an exciting opportunity for all who visit the park to see a part of Mammoth Cave history.
Stay tuned for more details next summer!
