Rep. James Comer, who has represented Kentucky’s 1st District in the U.S. Congress since 2016 and previously served in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 2001 to 2012, recently shared a series of statements on social media addressing ongoing political controversies and oversight activities. Comer, a native of Carthage, Tennessee born in 1972 and currently residing in Tompkinsville, graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1993.
On July 13, 2025, Rep. Comer commented on recent actions by former CIA Director Ratcliffe regarding government transparency: “@CIADirector Ratcliffe is pulling back the curtain—bringing long-overdue transparency and exposing how the Clinton machine weaponized government power. John Brennan and James Comey pushed the baseless Russia Hoax & knowingly lied under oath.” This statement was made with reference to coverage by Fox News.
On July 14, 2025, Comer addressed new reports about White House operations: “New reporting confirms Biden White House staff took executive action without the President’s approval. @GOPoversight will continue pursuing answers about this historic scandal to prevent such an abuse from happening again.”
Later that same day, Comer announced his appearance on Scott Jennings’ new Salem Network radio show: “Looking forward to joining @ScottJenningsKY today on his new Salem Network radio show! We all know Joe Biden wasn’t calling the shots in the White House. Be sure to tune in as we discuss @GOPoversight’s efforts to expose the truth.”
Comer succeeded Ed Whitfield as representative for Kentucky’s 1st district and has been involved with congressional oversight activities throughout his tenure.
