Today, Congressman James Comer (R-Ky.) took the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to commend the Murray State Racers baseball team for their historic achievement in reaching the NCAA College World Series for the first time. Comer praised the team for exceeding expectations and demonstrating strong determination and teamwork throughout their season.
In his remarks, Comer stated, “Murray State is a real-life Cinderella story.” He highlighted their journey as a number 4 seed after winning the Missouri Valley Conference. The Racers advanced from the Oxford Regional by defeating Ole Miss twice and Georgia Tech once, ultimately securing their place in the Super Regional.
Comer noted that Murray State achieved what many Kentucky Wildcat fans dream of by defeating Duke twice on Duke’s home field to advance to Omaha, Nebraska for the College World Series. He emphasized this accomplishment as significant for a small school like Murray State in an era dominated by NIL deals and large contracts.
Comer extended his congratulations to Coach Skirka, the players, and the entire community of Murray, Kentucky. He concluded his speech with gratitude before yielding back.
